On the 8th of July, Johnny Luk held an oversubscribed Campaign Launch at the MK: U Innovation Hub.
Illustrating the importance of this seat, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly MP attended as the special guest, spending the entire afternoon with supporters, introducing Johnny in his keynote, touring MK: U, canvassing in Loughton and visiting the local community organisation MK Melting Pot.
Both Milton Keynes Conservative MPs Iain Stewart MP (Milton Keynes South) and Ben Everitt MP (Milton Keynes North) also gave supportive speeches, and the launch was well attended with nearly a hundred supporters, including Gagan Mohindra, MP for South West Hertfordshire and our MK Conservative Councillors.
Johnny spoke about building on the successes of Conservative MPs Iain Stewart and Ben Everitt, where Milton Keynes has already benefited from more police officers, more apprenticeships and more vital infrastructure such as the East West Rail and the development of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Johnny also mentioned the importance of supporting innovation and attracting more investment and therefore quality jobs into MK.
The Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, said, “I am here to support Johnny, a fantastic local candidate brought up in the area, who is really energetic and will make a fantastic representative for the local community. I cannot wait for him to join me on the green benches”.
Johnny Luk said, “It feels special to campaign for my home seat - where I grew up, where my parents are and where I live. I know how special MK is. I am grateful for all the support from the community, and the reception on the doorstep has been very positive. I will do my utmost to continue to earn your support. We are campaigning to win.”
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, said, “We had a great time launching Johnny’s campaign for the new Milton Keynes Central constituency with the Foreign Secretary. I love being a part of Team MK.”
Iain Stewart, the MP for Milton Keynes South, said, “I was so impressed by Johnny’s drive and vision for what Milton Keynes is and can be in the future. Johnny will make a fantastic Member of Parliament.”
Since being selected in June, Johnny’s campaign is already off to a flying start, with over 400,000 social media views, hundreds of doors knocked and multiple ministerial endorsements.
